Okay, it started fine, it wasn't bad, it was just... just a week. Busy, because the two still in school had rehearsals for the concerts at the end of the week, and my oldest (M) was not feeling well. she couldn't catch her breath, called in sick on Tuesday from work.

Today went... not quite the way I had hoped, as I got up this morning to Maggie throwing up. Which is NEVER a good sign. So we checked her blood sugar, had her bolus, and then checked again. Narrowly avoided having to take M to the hospital last night. Like... narrowly. She was throwing up, everything pointed toward DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis - which is high blood sugar and too much acid in the system). We got some insulin in her, checked every couple of hours, and she was down to 66 this morning. From 582 last night. Normal is 70-180 ( Read more... )

Well. One year ago, Maggie was diagnosed with diabetes.

Happy anniversary.

She's doing so well. I think she's one of the most amazing people I know.

This will probably be long. Sorry.

Tomorrow marks one week, when she started getting her insulin. Her blood sugar is still really high, but it is coming down.

I need to learn alternative things to cook. Ugh.
