oh, Hana

Good thoughts/prayers would be appreciated for my sweet fluff. She's been having runny poo for well over a week (of course it started AFTER the vet checkup, sigh). At first I thought it was something she ate of mine, but then a few days passed and, while it improved a little bit, it was definitely still happening. So I thought maybe it was one of the brands of wet food I had been giving them more frequently than before. I switched back to the usual stuff, with no noticeable difference.

It took until the weekend for me to realize it could be the new brand of kibble I'd started giving them the week we went to the vet. *facepalm* And even then, I only mixed in some of the usual food rather than replacing all of it. So yesterday I finally took the new kibble away from her entirely. Today I put away all the kibble while I was at work, and bought some meat baby food to give Hana something bland but still protein. Naturally, Maia also likes the baby food. *eyeroll* And, of course, Maia wanted more than just the wet food I would give her, so I put some of the usual kibble out, and Hana ate some too even though it was my intent to only give her soft food for the next day or two... Wrangling cats is no joke, lol.

Overall, Hana is behaving as fine as I would expect with a slightly raw butt from pooping more frequently, lol. She eats and drinks and grooms and all of that (I trimmed some clumps out of her butt fluff this morning, but she's been taking good care down there in spite of everything). I'm just concerned that it's still lingering, and that there's been some blood that's showed up in the last 24 hours.

I probably should have called the vet today but I was downtown for a thing for work, and I wanted to give her more time to heal from the ill-advised food switch. I think I'll call tomorrow in hopes they'll have suggestions that don't involve bringing her in, because she absolutely hates that. :-\

I don't know what I'm going to do with all the kibble I'm afraid to let her eat. Maia seems fine with it, but Hana regularly eats from Maia's bowl, so I can't leave it. The really frustrating thing about all this is that the new kibble is supposed to be a good kind, with no poultry by-products or gluten or whatever. Apparently Hana's system doesn't appreciate the finer things in life? :-P

...n'aww, she's stretched out on my extended legs right now. She's such a sweetie. ♥
