updates from Cali and the girls

Nothing like a cat health crisis to get me posting again, lol.

The joke's on me; I still didn't sleep well last night, though it wasn't so much because I was worried about Hana as it was that Hana is so graceless with a cone that there were constant scraping noises along the walls and thuds or crashes as she ran into things or knocked them over. My poor fluff.

She'd come up onto the bed and run the edge of the cone right into some part of my body, then hover in anxious confusion. She never made a peep of complaint, but she obviously never adjusted the to the new width of her head. I had to help her get unstuck on her way into the litter box this morning, even. I don't think she ever really slept, because she couldn't seem to figure out how to lay her head down without choking herself. She did manage to eat some kibble this morning with it still on, at least.

My sweet, silly Hana. She is not the brightest cat, dear heart.

I finally freed her from the cone when I got home after church and running an errand. She does NOT like me putting the ointment in her eye, but she really does seem to be doing better--she's not nearly so puffy beneath the eye, and I think the only reason she's squinting more frequently is because her eye is still dilated from the exam last night. (That lasts approximately 24 hours.) And she generally seems in better spirits now that she's had the afternoon to catch up on some sleep. ;-)

So I'm cautiously optimistic that all will be well soon. ♥

Maia is, of course, her stalwart self. She has carried on the same as always and not bothered Hana too much (though there was some hissing a short while ago, and I have no idea who was the aggressor or even who was doing the hissing, lol, but they're coexisting harmoniously now).

Besides the not sleeping well, I'm kinda stiff and sore all over. I probably overdid it a bit yesterday, considering I rearranged almost every piece of furniture in my living room to fit in a pair of armchairs that someone abandoned by the dumpster (!). I am quite pleased to adopt these, as they're in pretty good shape, the one missing foot and some dings in the wood notwithstanding. I'll have to post pictures once I take some, lol. I would not be shocked if me rearranging and kicking up all sorts of dust and stuff is what led to Hana's eye problem. That they happened on the same day seems too coincidental...

Somewhere in the process of rearranging my living room, the copious vacuuming that entailed, wrapping gifts, and peeling and chopping six pounds of carrots, I aggravated my left wrist. So that's been fun today, every so often finding positions that really displease it.

And then today in the kitchen I managed to spill dry quinoa in my sink, and also dump grease I'd just siphoned off some browned ground beef down the side of my stove. At some point this week I need to try making cookies with the gluten-free flour I got, but I figured today did NOT seem like the right day in light of how my weekend has been going. LOL.

But the Yoga with Adriene video posted today was almost exactly what I needed: The Gift of Relaxation. ♥

...I should be eating my soup for dinner (I managed to let a can expire, omg... so I'm eating it quick while it still seems acceptable, haha), but I have a purring Hana on my arm. Yay for a happier kitty. :-)
