The Good Food and Wine Show

... was quite uninspiring.

Admittedly, this was the first year I had gone so I don't really have a standard to compare it to, so perhaps it merely didn't meet my expectations.

I learnt things which were useful - such as an introduction to WA QLamb.  Lamb which is grown by WA farmers and has a standard amount of fat and is vacuum packed.  They also deliver an eleven kilo pack for under $200.  Not a bad deal!

The other thing is that the WA wines being showcased this year tasted very young.  Since I didn't drive there, I felt quite free to indulge in a few things.  The best thing that I tried was the sparkling muscat from Innocent Bystander.  And funnily enough, eirivan and nekomancy thought much the same!  We ended up getting a six pack each.

The Celebrity Theatre shows were booked out early but we got reserved seating to the one by the Masterchefs when we booked our tickets.  To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.  I suspect a lot of people go for the banter and chemistry between the two chefs, but the recipes they demonstrated were rather basic.

We also avoided the Fifth Leg Restaurant.  Mass produced food at those prices wasn't really our thing.

What I am looking forward to is next weekend.  Mundaring Truffle Festival!  I'm thinking of heading there on Saturday morning.
