Dad got his visa. yay!
Before abandoning stillesprite to my apartment (currently hers), we all went out to this Chinese restaurant in Culmore that was OMG SO GOOD. i cannot even begin to tell you. First of all, they had real tea. Real tea. I haven't had real chinese in DC, like. ever.
They're famous for their peking duck, which was well. they cut it kinda funny, and i thought there was an awful lot of meat still on the carcass when they were done, but. it was good. beijing style, so no cucumbers, and i don't eat the green onions, but whatever. still good.
We also got a tofu dish, a chicken dish, and beef dish. The tofu was unexpectedly karai. stillesprite and I were surprised. but it was tasty, once you could feel your mouth again. The chicken one was like the shrimp dish with the walnuts, only instead it was chicken. It looked a lot oranger there, but perhaps it's because shrimp is normally orange. The beef was pretty good too--the hunks of meat were much bigger than i expected. But really, the beef and chicken were only pretty good.
There was a lady who came in after with a stack of papers half as tall as I was, and she got a duck just for herself. With her glass of wine, it was easily a 45 dollar meal. for one. the hell?
i just don't think that kind of meal tastes good when you're alone. whatever. she can do what she likes.
Set out shortly after dinner, and got home around 2am. Annie'd gotten rock band sometime while i was away, and she played some of that, then i stumbled into bed.
Today, i had an eye doctor appointment and they dialated my pupils. I apparently, should still get yearly check ups because, being extremely near-sighted, i am still at risk for retinal detachments which just sound unpleasant. Apparently, my eyesight was worse in the right eye than i'd remembered--i was a -8. But yes, the surgery apparently went very successfully. he also explained why i have glare problems in dim lighting--my pupil's pretty big already, so when it expands in the dim light, it expands past the edges of the cut, and me catching light off that is what makes the glare.
my desk, btw, is gorgeous.
