I've only read two books since my last booklog but I'm going to go ahead and do another since ASOIAF is very much on the brain right now.

My eyes hurt from reading but I only have three chapters left in Clash of Kings. Ahhhhhhh. Also, I just saw very WTF-inducing spoiler, which means I will probably have to read the next three books post-haste. THIS SERIES. ACK.

The thing that bothers me about names and languages in fantasy novels is that the authors so rarely understand how languages actually work. I hate weirdly-spelled things that don't sound anything like the letters on the page say they should, like Kahlen and Nynaeve. You know how Daniel Radcliffe now looks like he could be related to Richard Armitage? some brilliant soul has decided to write a fic about them as brothers (along with Hans Matheson) fighting monsters in Victorian England.

speaking of, The Difference Engine is finally starting to get interesting.

I have a question for you, flist. What is your favorite Arthurian adaptation?

On-screen, I think I'd have a hard time deciding. I think Arthurian stuff usually tends more towards the entertaining rather than the good, so I'd probably go with Monty Python and the Holy Grail because I have seen it a thousand times and still love it ( Read more... )

Wow, battlestar_blog is eating my flist. I am excited that the new season is starting, but atm I think half of it is I'm so done with hearing cracked (and repetitive) meta.
