I went to see New Moon with my sisters on Friday. Overall, New Moon was a disappointment. I had high hopes for it because it was obviously getting a bigger budget and would presumably be better because of the extra money to play around with. An a capella group gave Star Wars lyrics to a bunch of John Williams soundtrack music without actually using any of the score from Star Wars. I was grinning widely within 20 seconds, and kept it up all the way through.

This song came out 5-6 years ago, I think. I always connect it with LeeAnn Womack's "I Hope You Dance." I'm not sure why. Maybe they came out at the same time. The difference is that "I Hope You Dance" was a huge megahit that crossed over from country to pop, and "Bring On the Rain" never went anywhere. I can't understand it. My sisters and I went to see a double feature on Memorial Day: Terminator and Star Trek. Colleen had heard that Terminator received bad reviews so we weren't expecting much. I just found out that Vern Gosdin died 04/28/2009. He is a singer/songwriter of superior talent in both categories. Truly, he was a cut above most of country music on the radio. He had a number of hits in the 70s and 80s. Even if you hate country music, give one of these songs a listen, just to hear what his peers called, "The Voice ( Read more... )
