Have you ever had a friend tell you that you simply HAD to listen to this singer, this is the best song, you will absolutely LOVE it, etc.  And she plays you the song and you feel nothing.  You look at your friend and realize, huh, this person is completely different from me.  This music that obviously moves her tremendously makes you start thinking about your grocery list.

Of course, sometimes you are the one who has a visceral response to a certain piece of music, long to share it with others, and are the one to receive the blank stare or polite nod.  You are at a loss to explain her nonreaction.  How can she be so dense and unfeeling in the face of such beauty and power?  Philistine!

But even while you long-sufferingly listen to your friend's music that doesn't do a thing for you, it is another way to be clued in to different aspects of her personality.  I never knew she was such a romantic/punk/goth, etc.  You can get to know people through the music they love even if the music itself is mostly meaningless to you.

In that vein, I thought I would take the three singers I have listed in my interests section on my info page to illustrate to all and sundry my personality.  These three happen to be my "desert island" artists.  Any one of them would work as the only artist I could ever listen to again.  Or at least until I was rescued by sexy pirates or Navy SEALs.
