PMing, Jonathan Creek, and Book Fees

Jun 15, 2010 13:40

Little help please? I'm betaing a couple of fics and I want to find out how the PM system can be worked, as currently it doesn't let either of my authors PM me or vice versa. Are there settings for this that can be modified, because it's not in privacy settings.

A segway from QI I have delved into the world of Jonathan Creek and I kinda love this show now, after only four episodes. In summary, the show is about a magician's assistant (he designs the tricks) who helps solve crimes due to his uncanny technical knowledge and deduction skills, along with a female, so far investigative reporter.
WHY I LOVE IT:
Everything can be found on YouTube.
The cinematography is down to earth and makes it seem a lot more realistic (hah!) then many of the other crime solving shows, that feature flashbacks, in the literal sense. The plots are convoluted and the clues are mind numbingly banal compared to the revelations they impart (quoth one of the protagonists.) That's what makes it so wonderful, because even if I could guess who did it (which I did once) I couldn't for the life of my fathom how or why, but Alan Davies' character presents the story so well in the final revealings that I don't feel cheated at all like I normally would.
Plus, this show has lovely humour and chemistry between the two mains, in my opinion. Seriously, if a HET couple can have me rooting for a ship within ten minutes of meeting each other that is SKILL.
Doctor Who guest stars! Colin Baker painting clown women! (I haven't gotten to the Davison ep yet.)
Also, the music is GORGEOUS. Seriously, this is the first show where I listen as much for the music as anything else. Jeeves and Wooster might be my favourite catchy theme tune, House may be the most boring, Doctor Who the most exciting, but this just titillates my senses in just the right way to get me in the mindset. Definitely something I could listen to over and over. Tune used starts at :45, but the rest is also lovely to listen to.

Now after that I'd have to say, that this show is definitely not for everyone. It just appeals very well to my specific taste.

To end, an obligatory moaning paragraph. Please excuse the language below.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
End of term means returning textbooks to people and I can't find a couple. I'm sure I didn't lose them, as I haven't used the ones in question in eight months (borrowed my friend's for all assignments.) The teacher even admitted to seeing mine in the room, but now it's gone. I suspect another student took it. Plus, the library has sent me another bill for "overdue fees." I paid the legitimate fees, but also had to pay $30 for a book which I distinctly remember returning ON TIME four months ago. I know this 'cause I spent the rest of the week so happy that I actually had turned it in on time, but because of my history the library doesn't believe me. Point is I'll have no money after paying for everything (the book isn't that much of a hit alone, but it's the thought that hurts.) And I need new headphones, but Dad insists that I can only buy Brookstone ones with a 2-year guarantee. Sometimes I hate not being able to have a job like normal teenagers, because of my eyesight and extensive schedule (if I want any free time.) Must contact the Lighthouse to set me up some employment.

Off to eat lunch before the big day's meme post: icons, 30 days, etc.
