Freshman Retreat

So. Much. Fun.

Yesterday it was sunny but cool.

Today it rained all day and we were all SOAKING wet.

Unfortunately this made the cheap $3 Walmart tennis shoes I wore since we were tromping in mud shrink...and they were already too small. So now all my toenail beds are bruised from the pressure of the shoes--and I have blisters in several other places.

But Wednesday I ran 2 miles (in 32 minutes!) and then exercised more with a student's mom at our school's new fitness center, then yesterday I tromped through the forest preserve (which is really lovely) for hours. Then today I tromped even farther and faster and longer.

I'm glad that I went with the mindset of, "I'm going to be soaked in short order. I'm dressed for that. Okay."

I also grabbed all three of my cloaks and loaned them to the freezing kids in the afternoon. That was fun.

I had such a great time. I love my students.

So...exercise!!! Yay, me! (Even if my toes are throbbing.)

I came home, stripped out of my soaked stuff, and slept for two hours.

Tomorrow morning I'm taking the kids to see my mom. All the laundry is done (did that yesterday) and I've just got to pack up clothes. It's so nice not to have to take half th ehouse with us to accommodate the kids--just blankies, clothes, shoes, and sleeping bags.

And...hours later...I'm remembering to click "Update Journal".

Did I mention that My Feet Hurt?? I actually have them on ice packs now. Ow.
