I got here in excellent time (five hours door to door). I've had a lovely visit and took many photos of the kids and the house and grounds. I spent 2 hours tonight PhotoShopping the photos into things I can upload and share once I'm home.

The house and grounds look beautiful; all the trees have grown huge and there are flowers all over. I love the house I grew up in. I told my mom that if they ever get of a mind to sell, they should tell me so Husband and I can think about whether we want to see about buying it (though I don't really want to live in C'dale).

Mom made a wonderful roast Saturday night. Mmmmmm.

The kids have done all kinds of activities--playing outside, collecting acorns, fingerpainting, cut-out cookies--and I've gotten no work at all done.

Mom has held up very well, but her back just doesn't allow her to do long spurts of things, and when it gets bad, it's really bad and she can't do anything but take drugs and use the heating pad and sleep.

Boy-o is freaking out because he woke up. I went in to comfort him, and he seemed to calm, but he got back up and was still crying "daddy" at the gate to the room. *sigh* Poor kid. ETA:I had to go in and lie down with him for over 20 minutes. He seemed calmer and drifting off, so I said, very softly, "Night-night." He immediately started up and climbed on top of me, draped himself across me, and lay there. I took that to mean, "STAY!!!!" He finally drifted off enough that I could escape.

It turns out that my toenails were hurting so much because I bruised them to the point of knocking them in large part loose from the nailbeds. Ow. I clipped the left one (the one that hurt more) very closely this morning to relieve some of the pressure, and where the nail was separating, I got into the nailbed and it just oozed fluid. It felt much better after that pressure was relieved, thought it's still sore. And, of course, the kids have stepped on my toes at least six times a day.

I gave both kids haircuts yesterday--Ben with the new clippers my mommy bought for me. They both look lovely. Elf just got the two long chunks cut off--it was her First Haircut Ever. She looks lovely.

I have been quite the snack for the indigenous biting insects. I forgot how many more there were here...and how much longer the season is. Ugh. /ETA
