I'm going to start eating more oatmeal because I've discovered the wonders adding fresh berries. When I used to do the eating healthy thing in my latter years of high school, I would cut up half of a banana or sometimes apple to jazz up my oatmeal. Berries are infinitely better! When you sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar on top, it makes the oatmeal like dessert. Mmmm.
I think my "I-don't-know-what-else-to-eat meal" will be oatmeal and an omelet from now on, instead of ramen (~450 cal). Either of those things are as easy to make as ramen and healthier. I suppose I should start leaving some hard-boiled eggs in the fridge as alternative snacks too.
I'm considering doing what I did in high school to regulate my eating habits. I'd eat oatmeal for breakfast, then a snack at 10, lunch around noon, snack at 3, workout, dinner, then another snack, depending on whether I was hungry or not. Now, I just eat when I'm hungry- sometime around 1pm, 7 pm then 2 am. I became sort of obsessed with calories in/calories out, so if I wanted a Haagen Dazs bar, I'd think 320 calories v. 30 minutes of cardio? Most of the time, I wouldn't be able to justify it because I didn't want to exercise anymore, so I rarely ate junk. I ate the same boring things all the time too (because counting calories when you eat the same things day in and out is easier), so I was sort of "eat to live" rather than "live to eat."
Oh, what I'd do for some discipline. I'm pretty sure it would fix all aspects of my life.
