SSR
Balancing his bags of groceries, Gibbs paused at his front door.
It was suspiciously quiet, especially since his entire team was inside, nursing minor injuries under Ducky’s watchful eye.
Silently, Gibbs eased the door open - and stopped again.
Ziva sat with her sprained ankle in Tony’s lap, her other knee supporting the book she was reading. Tony had propped his paperback on the other couch arm, and McGee leaned against his legs, a large hardcover volume in his lap.
Ducky looked up from the latest issue of The Lancet. “Hello, Jethro. Need any help?”
Gibbs smiled. “Nah, I’ve got it.”
THE END
Note(s): SSR is the abbreviation for Sustained Silent Reading, a thing done in American schools where the class all read their own books quietly at the same time (or, at least it was in the 90s)
