Cold Without Your Arms
Sophie’s bed was empty.
That wasn’t new - a grifter couldn’t afford to show the vulnerability of sleep, and she hadn’t really worked with a crew, before this. She was used to sleeping alone.
At least, she had been.
It had been sudden and inevitable all at once, tumbling into bed with Nate, new and familiar at the same time. They’d agreed it was a mistake, a shared moment of weakness.
But now, her bed felt empty.
With a sigh, Sophie got up and crossed to another door.
“Can I come in?”
Nate sat up, smiling.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
