“How did you know it wasn’t me?” asked John, still a little shaky from the alien mind-reading cocoon-thing.
“I…” Rodney paused. “He said he loved me.”
John tried to pull away, and Rodney hurried to kiss him, long and deep.
When they broke for air, John frowned. “What?”
“He looked me in the eye and said the words and they were empty. Your eyes always say that you love me, even when the words are actually, McKay, you’re a pain in the ass.”
“I do,” John said, then faltered, “I should-”
Rodney kissed him again. “I love you, too.”
