“Aw, egg, no,” Phil heard Clint say, as he came around the kitchen doorway. “That was the last one.”
“I’m sure there are more, someplace.”
Clint froze, then grinned, “Phil! You’re home early. I was hoping to surprise you.”
“You,” said Phil, “are always a surprise. What are you doing?”
“Learning to poach eggs. I wanted to try making eggs benedict, and this is the hardest part.”
“Want me to find some more eggs?”
“Nah,” said Clint. “Let’s just make the hollandaise sauce and eat it out of the bowl.”
Phil smiled and kissed him. “Man after my own heart.”
