Happy 4th of July!
I've found myself once again in England on America's Independence Day, so obviously no day off of work and no fireworks. Plus, I'm going to miss Guy Fawkes' and Bonfire Night fireworks, so I have to wait until 2009. Man, I am going to enjoy those fireworks.
Last year our work did this fun picnic-lunch (in the conference room) of American foods. Working with mostly Americans, this was especially nice. But this year the attorneys are going to be at a thing at the Benjamin Franklin house, so no special lunch for us. I think I'll take my PB & J sandwich and go sit in Grosvenor Square and watch the US flag fly over the (closed) Embassy... if the weather stays nice and sunny like it is now.
I did, however, already celebrate with a Starbucks vanilla iced latte. Go American capitalism!
I had a fun conversation with Eric last night wherein we created the newest Sims expansion pack - Payin' Taxes or something to that extent, where you can guide your Sims as they file their taxes. It comes with a free trial of TurboTax. ;-)
I'm looking forward to my first weekend in Stratford -- unpacking, shopping, getting to know Stratford, and hopefully writing. I'm so psyched about having a desk now AND cafes and pubs to go write in. I'm spoiled for choice!
