(no subject)
So here is the briefest update of life that I can muster:
My class began May 9th, & so far I have learned how to
a. Aseptically wash my hands.
b. Transfer a person from a bed to a wheelchair & vice-versa via a gait belt.
c. Position someone in bed in the Fowler's & sidelying positions.
d. Aid a conscious & unconscious choking victim.
e. Bloodpressure.
f. The proper way to make a bed--empty, and occupied.
g. How to give a bed bath & partial bed bath.
h. How to clean someone's "peri" area.
We've had 2 quizzes so far--you have to have an average of 70% on all of them (5) to pass the class... So far my average is 92.5.
So...it really hasn't been that bad so far, & has actually been fun at times. We even get out early some days (M, W, & F). In about 2 weeks I'll have 2 days of clinicals, so I'm kinda scared about that. Christy is working at the U of L Med school building about a block away from the Red Cross building where I'm at, so we always meet for lunch, so that's been awesome, along with getting to hang out more often, since we're usually done at the same times in the afternoon.
I'm seeing Bryon only about 2 days a week now, so that sucks (but better than none at all, of course), but hopefully after this class is over I can have more time for things like that. This past weekend, we both had Sunday off & went to the J.B. Speed Art Museum on the U of L campus, then out to eat at Olive Garden (I paid, but didn't care because I REALLY wanted a caesar salad!). It was a good day...something long overdue, since the few times I do see him, we don't really get to go out & do anything.
I hate this new keyboard--you have to hit the keys harder as you type.
My cat is asleep on her back w/ her paws up in the air...
