I woke up at about twelve today (I know, half the day wasted...) and made my way down to Woolies to pick up some groceries.
lackofmendacity was stopping by today during her break, so I also grabbed some chocolate and strawberries. God, they're so much more complicated than you think. You'd think it was just melt-the-chocolate-dip-the-berry and voila, but it's actually really fiddly. You have to warm the strawberries to room temperature, you have to pat them dry every now and then so no water gets into the chocolate, the double boiler has to be at a constant temperature... Then there's the twirl... Argh. It was a little annoying at first, but after you get the hang of it, it's not too bad. Unfortunately, I used milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. I'm not sure if they were good or not. They taste like any other chocolate/fruit combination to me. Still, I hope she liked them.
