On Friday morning, 90 of our group climbed onto two coaches and drove 2 hours to Dover, where we entered the Chunnel i.e. the train that runs under the English Channel. So after class today, we went to see As You Like It in the park, about a 20 minute walk from here. The show was outside, and they used trees for dressing rooms. It was a different take on the show, and the actors sang and wore goofy costumes, but it was really good. We just learned about the bombings in London. Fortuantely our group was safe and sound in Oxford. It is so scary when things like this happen so close to where you are. Several cars on the Underground were bombed, right near King's Cross where we were staying. It's too early to get anyone by phone at home, but know that we're ok. We're cancelling ( Read more... )

So I've officially survived my first night at Oxford. Last night we went to our official dinner. We had to get all dressy and then go into this big official looking hall that had paintings of scholars in their regalia everywhere. When we go in, everyone has to remain standing.
