Of horses and more music boxes
So it was the 7th day, the lonely travellers' time at Hokkaido was fast coming to an end. The other lonely traveller was itching to go ride horses in japan since two years ago so this time when the lonely travellers found an extra day on their hands and after watching much advertisments of this horse park in hokkaido, the other lonely traveller decided to go for it. Thus, the lonely travellers went to the Northern Horse Park at Chitose.
They took a train to the airport and from there was just a shuttle bus ride away. Enterance fee was 500 yen.
Walking around in the northern horse park.
As usual, it was one giant tourist trap. You get to ride in a horse drawn carriage or ride a bicycle or walk. You get to ride a horse for 5 mins, 15 mins and 45 mins which the other lonely traveller did. And you get to do non-horse related stuff as well.
But before the lonely travellers could do anything, they'll have to look for the counter for registeration.
The northern horse park. You realise everything that the lonely travellers took are mostly green, brown and blue.
The lonely travellers saw people training as a jockey.
Eventually, the lonely travellers found the registration counter. So the other lonely traveller went off to be tested and ride her horse for 45 mins. This lonely traveller rotted around for 45 mins by herself.
a bored looking horse near the registration place.
A greedy horse.
This is how a horse looks like when she wants to eat. Look at those lips.
This is how a horse looks when she had her mouth full.
the horse seems to be saying "Huh? You got food?"
This horse is always looking to be fed. As you bend over to pick up hay from the ground to feed her, she'll try to eat your bag / hair / anything within reach.
Some people that are training their horses to go around and around and around in a circle and coming to an instant stop at a single command. Something that the other lonely traveller calls the western riding style? (did this lonely traveller get it right?)
Then this lonely traveller went and did a catelogue of the horses which have their heads sticking out of their stalls. This one is a rather good looking horse.
This one had one eye white and the other normal. This lonely traveller suspects the horse is blind one side.
This lonely traveller likes this horse the best of all she had seen in the park.
Soon the other lonely traveller was back from her ride and this was the person who was her.... in-charge? A japanese younger than the lonely travellers.........
then, the lonely travellers loitered around the place and found...
Ponys and this one had a rather hysterical look...
and a foal. very cute...
It rolled around on the hay and then ate it...
then ate it...
The foal decided to run for no apparent reason.
And soon the lonely travellers had exhuasted the horse park. They decided to go have their lunch. This lonely traveller hadn't been having regular meals in japan and for once they are having lunch at lunch time. hahha... but they were distracted by some games stalls. They tried their hand at rifle shooting. and this lonely traveller found the gun heavy and aiming extremely hard.
Later, they hung around in the omiyage shop. and after shopping it was lunch. Lunch was kitsune ramen this lonely traveller remembers and the other lonely traveller had some pork stuff on a flying pan without rice.
Later, they went and waited for the bus but since it was some time away, they went and try a jockey riding arcade game.... It was tiring.... very tiring.... needless to say both the lonely travellers are not cut out to be jockeys.
So what are they going to do since they had cleared the horse park in half a day? They couldn't go anywhere too far... They can only visit nearby places but they didn't want to explore sapporo since they wanted to leave that for the next day... What where can they go? And this lonely traveller suggested an evil place - Otaru.....
Otaru here they go....
The horrible slope which they didn't take this time.
Once again, they visited the shop with the evil goods. and spend their yen away once more. After spending some money, they came to their senses and decided to explore places they didn't explore before.
The lonely travellers found Waruku in Otaru.
As they walked, this lonely traveller brought a slice of those expensive as hell rock melon at $2.60 per slice. It was a rather large slice, this lonely traveller think the other lonely traveller should have a picture of this lonely traveller eating it. The flesh was juicy and very sweet. So this lonely traveller rather enjoyed her slice.
The lonely travellers wandered over to the habour and found the place entirely unfamilar. Without all the matsuri decorations and people, suddenly everything was weird. hahaha... They wanted to take the cruise to see some cliffs but by the time they went to the counter to enquire, the last trip for that cruise was over...
So they explored more Otaru on foot.
they found a second hand shop where the lonely travellers were taken by the price of first the DS lite ($218), then the wii (25,000y en less than $300 about $290). Then they looked at the rows and rows of second hand goods. This lonely traveller managed to get some cds that she wanted and this started the second hand shopping spree at Akiba.
