Been browsing through FF.net because, well, I have work up to my eyeballs and need a distraction. And I have to note at the springing up of Ronon/Keller fics ( Read more... )

sparky, pairings, mcshep, sga, ronon/keller, spanky

Oh I love this topic. Let me start with what I call Voldemort ship - sheyla. Beside the whole EWWWW! factor that's just a cliche. A big, stinking cliche (that doesn't even work here or look natural or believable) - hero goes to new world or other planet and meets beautiful alien princess (which Teyla isn't - neither princess nor beautiful, IMO) and of course they fall in love. Only that isn't what comes across when you look at Shep with Teyla. Yes he could have had a little crush on her in like first four episodes of S1. And then? Nothing. She particularly never seemed interested in him one bit. Teyla is like John's big sister. She can put him into place and kick his ass and she tells him when he's wrong and should re think his actions. But sexual tension? Zero. Nada. Non existent ( ... )

OMG. Can I quote you on that? And post it everywhere and anywhere? Because the way you rationalize sparky is soooo true and perfect. And it reminds me why I fell in love with that ship in the first place.

Nope, Keller is nothing like Frasier. Daniel/Janet? I wouldn't know, because I never liked SG-1 enough to go crazy and start shipping anyone. Even Carter/O'Neill never really attracted me. The only reason I supported it at all was because it seemed like Carter would be happy with him and vice versa, and they *deserve* to be happy. Plus, it was canon. :D

Ford/Keller?!? That might... actually work. Huh. I like that. *nods* It would be cute. WRITE IT! We could start our own Ford/Keller community, complete with two fans. XD

My conclusion - TPTB are idiots. They know zero about writing plausible relationships (and even less about strong female characters!) and go for the easy and predictable things. Eeeeeewwwwwww!Truer words have never been spoken. (Well, except for what you said about sparky, but that's not the point.) You know what ( ... )

LOOOOOOL!!! You can quote me allright! I'd be proud to be quoted as a proof of Sparky! And there I was few days ago thinking about did I simply imagine it all. You know, TPTB and lot of other people (aboard on voldemort ship that is) said lots of times that sparky people are delusional. In this case I'll throw my profession out of the window and stay happily delusional ( ... )

Delusional?!?! I HIGHLY resent that! I'm happily insane, thankyouverymuch. And sheyla people shouldn't be talking. Their ship only exists because TPTB support it, and we've already established how good they are at writing relationships. Which is to say, not at all. :P

Oops, sorry! I forgot. *headdesk* I promise, no more spoiling. BTW, are you not watching S4 because you can't or won't? (If the latter, I have much respect for you. Even if TPTB had Sheppard marry Teyla, Ronon hook up with Keller, and Teyla go with - I don't know - Hermiod, I would still watch. Because it's just too hard to resist, damnit.)

Huh, I don't think I ever saw that scene. I haven't actually watched that many SG-1 episodes - most of the ninth and tenth season and a few episodes in the other ones I've seen, but I don't watch it religiously/obsessively like with SGA. (Because SGA is totally awesome. Yup.)

Yes! Ford/Keller FTW! I am totally converted, now. I even have a damn plot bunny biting me. It's quite annoying, and I vow to kill it with meridith_smith's pitchfork. ( ... )

Oh dear, for me SGA used to be awesome. I mean characters ARE awesome - heck Keller could be awesome - but what the writers are doing ISN'T. I don't watch it because I won't. There. period. I won't. I won't I won't I won't. No matter how many pro - people tell me hey but it's the best season EVAH! No. Because they ditched my favorite character, to bring the most boring character of SG - 1 in, and both the producers and lots of fans said or implied how my hero there - and that is Elizabeth - isn't good enough for the show. Oh well, in that case the show isn't good enough for me. I'd rather watch "Exorcist" than Sheyla - and I can't stand horror movies. Sheyla is on top of my shit list ( ... )

S4, the best ever? HA. S3, IMO, is just as good, if not better. I guess for me nothing can top episodes like 'Sateda', 'Tao of Rodney', 'Common Ground', and 'The Real World'. Now those were great episodes.

Still, though, as much as I miss Elizabeth (god, every time I see Carter it still sends this painful yank through my gut, like OMG I miss liz! *weeps*) I wouldn't be able to not watch the show. The curiosity would kill me.

I know, that's what always bugged me about GW. They say that they have the "right" to form these anti threads, but I just find it disturbing. I've heard people say they hate Weir because she's "so perfect" and then later complain that she sucks as a diplomat, and "makes tons of mistakes" (like authorizing Kavanaugh's torture, agreeing to work with the Wraith - as if John and the others weren't backing her up too!) That drives me crazy. Make up your mind already. I get mad just thinking about it. *scowl ( ... )

omg, I hate it when that happens. I've actually taken to writing out my comments on Word if they're going to be long, and then copying and pasting them to the comment box. I do that with journal entries too, because I just don't trust lj. XD

Like, someone was criticizing Weir for being indecisive and vacillating and wishy-washy in Common Ground...*haz heart attack* OMGWTFHOW?! I saw her as being the strong leader, who made the decision no one else was capable of makingYES! Thank you. She made the right choice, period. And even if she *was* slightly indecisive, that's just cuz her heart was breaking over poor Shep! (Which leads us to all those delicious angsty post-Common Ground fics, but that's another subject...) People who criticize her decisions are just blah. They complain that she makes mistakes (like when she authorized Kavanaugh's torture, but even then you could defend her actions) and then whine she's perfect. Like, WTF? ( ... )
