1. Character: Rosto the Piper is the King of the Rogue - the King of Thieves - in Tamora Pierce’s Provost’s Dog Trilogy.  He is an attractive, charming, charismatic antihero who takes the throne at the end of the first novel, Terrier, shifting the balance of power in the Lower City.  Rosto is a vivid character who manages to toe the line between light and dark in his position as King of Thieves without falling on one side of another - while managing the city’s underworld, he also cares deeply about the people who live there and their welfare, which leads him to help them whenever he can, even at the risk of his life.

2. Title + Show Summary: Rogue picks up shortly after the end of Mastiff with the continued trials of Rosto the Piper’s time as King of the Rogue - often known simply as the Rogue - in Corus.  With the Provost’s Guard - the Dogs - troubling his people at every turn and the line between ally and enemy becoming ever fuzzier, Rosto must protect his own life as well as the lives of his friends - whether or not the woman he loves is one of them.  Despite his best efforts, Beka Cooper continues to be a fixture in his life, popping up at the most inconvenient times.  As time goes on, the two settle back into an uneasy friendship as she learns more and more about his past in Scanra and that he did not simply come to Corus for the sake of alleviating his boredom.

3. Character Description: Angelina Strelnikova - Rosto’s younger sister.  Angelina is his only biological sibling.  She is five years younger than him, married with a son and another on the way last he heard before he left Scanra.  Angelina appears primarily as a teenager in flashbacks, where she is easily as headstrong as her brother and serves as one of the driving factors of his departure from Scanra prior to the trilogy.

5. Episode Summaries
Episode One: Pilot
Beka’s return to Corus in the arms of Farmer Cape finds Rosto nursing a broken heart.  His dynamic with the Provost’s Guard changes abruptly with Beka’s shift and the absence of both of her mentors in the Lower City, leaving the relationship less than pleasant.  An attempt on his life is linked to the Dogs, further disrupting the uneasy peace.  It continues to escalates when two unfamiliar Dogs show up to collect the bribe money owed to the Guard and one of them manages to stab Rosto and leaving him fighting for his life.

Episode Two: Night
With Rosto possibly mortally wounded, his friends in the Rogue close ranks.  While they wait to see if he will make it through the night, Aniki and Kora recount how they first met Rosto in Scanra and unintentionally reveal that his departure was not on the best of terms.  Meanwhile, they attempt to follow leads to uncover the attempt on his life. Morning dawns with the trail cold but Rosto still among the living.

Episode Three: Angelina
A letter from Rosto’s sister arrives shortly after his recovery, prompting him to weigh the risks of returning to Scanra to try to help her.  Rosto’s struggles - and a confrontation with Beka - are juxtaposed with flashbacks of the last time he saw his sister and how they parted on less than good terms.
