Challenge 1: Too Good for This World

Alan Deaton is such a mysterious character, both by personality and in backstory, on Teen Wolf. There are years of uncharted territory in his life that would make for an excellent spin off about his life during his training as an emissary and what led him to Beacon Hills in present time. His characterization currently is very sparse and he’s only the wise vet who knows supernatural things to potentially help Scott and his pack.

The Emissary Chronicles

Alan Deaton descended from a long line of emissaries but his mother’s death while protecting the pack she was bound to broke his father’s dedication to his calling. He moved Alan across the country, away from their extended family and any ties to the supernatural. Unfortunately the supernatural didn’t get the message-and neither did Alan.

Side characters

01) Burton Deaton

He married into the emissary life. He fell in love with Alan’s mother, Gwen, and accepted her for everything she was. When she died he changed and forbade his children from being involved in the life that killed their mother. He tries to present their family as everyday Americans with no connection to the hidden supernatural world.

02) Elsa Corrins

Elsa is the local werewolf pack’s emissary. They’re a small, under-the-radar pack who cause no trouble and keep an incredibly low profile. Alan wouldn’t even have gotten to know her except he saved her from a wendigo and fell into her pack’s affairs. She takes Alan under her wing and trains him on the down low so his father doesn’t find out.

03) Grayson Blythe

The pack alpha who doesn't like Alan and doesn’t like Elsa helping him but has no control over what she does or doesn’t do. He believes that the sudden incurrence of issues in their territory has to do with Alan and his family’s arrival.

04) Marin Morrell

By the end of the first season Alan meets a mysterious young woman who knows who he is -and what. She turns out to be his sister who his mother had before he was born. Her father was a powerful witch who argued for custody. Alan’s mother gave her up to him because she met Burton and thought she could have a more “normal” life as a regular emissary. Marin heard of her mother’s death and sought out her brother, wanting to know him. But can he trust her?

Episodes

01) Pilot

Alan’s mother is killed in a territory dispute between her werewolf pack and a rival pack. Alan’s father, Burton, moves them across the country to get a fresh start, leaving in the middle of the night without his mom’s pack’s knowledge. They set up in an unassuming northwestern town to begin anew. Alan agrees to his father’s decree that there be no more involvement in the supernatural, that the danger stops with his mother’s death. But Alan doesn’t realize that the supernatural decidedly doesn’t agree.

02) The Emissary’s Emissary

In the season finale Alan’s father finds out he’s been involved in the local pack’s affairs, despite his insistence that Alan leave that part of their life behind. Burton’s life is further shifted when he learns of the existence of his wife’s secret child, and that Alan’s been interacting with her. Alan, dealing with the struggle of watching his father fall apart again against following his believed path, discovers something about his mother that could send him in an entirely new, unsafe, direction.
