I finished a commission today!
One of my household sisters, Galenna, received a Purple Fret and she didn't receive it, someone accepted for her.
Well, it accidentally got dripped on, and water damaged.
Part of Galenna's original scroll
I am less than impressed with the calligraphy. At the risk of sounding snarky, it frankly sucks. The illumination was well laid out, but not executed very well, in watercolour.
I was commissioned to do a new one for her. Here it is!
Galenna's new and improved Award of the Purple Fret
IMHO, much nicer!
The hand is called Foundational, I don't have references for the art. I tried to stay reasonably faithful to the art, using a loose hand and broad strokes. The original is watercolour, mine is in gouache. I also did gold leaf on the spots in the corner and the centers of the flowers. There was gold paint in the original there.
My one regret is that I didn't spell check her name. Galenna, will you ever forgive me? The original text had your name spelled wrong, AND the words "Ironwolf" and "hindrance" (Irowolf and hinderance, respectively.)
Irowolf?
Irowolf?
Humpf!
