So I thought I was going to have to fight with my mom about smoking, but instead she told me that I'm a grownup, I can make my own decisions, and as long as I didn't smoke in the house she wouldn't ask any questions.

I love my mom. Sometimes she has these brief flashes of lucidity in between her craziness.

I've been very frustrated with my mother lately. She doesn't really have a life outside of work, so she spends a lot of time obsessing over it and complaining to me and my dad (mostly me, since she thinks he's not a good enough listener. I had kind of a blowout with my family last night; my brother was being exceptionally mean to me, so there was a big family "discussion." I told my parents that I smoked, and the parental units were at first disappointed, but they just told me not to smoke anymore and not to hang out with Nick (sorry, Nick!).
