So, hypothetically. Suppose someone kind of wants to ask someone else to prom, but they don't know if that someone else is even really interested in them or not. What would be the best course of action in a situation like that?

Tell them you want to go to prom with them! Being creative helps, maybe. Oh, maybe a poem telling them how you feel! And if you wanna power it up even more, turn it into a song! Everyone likes music.

Hidden messages might work... Maybe you could be a secret admirer? Say, "I really like you, so will you come to prom with me? I go to the bush at 3. If you want to find out who I am, meet me there!" Everyone likes surprises too.

I don't have a poetic bone in my body. I don't really think I could pull that off.

That one just... kind of sounds a bit stalkerish?

Well! If you need me... I'm over here! I could help.

Stalkerish? Nono no, I don't see how that's stalkerish! It's meeting someone at a place and time so you can tell them something in private! Stalkers follow people everywhere. Unless you do that and you're not saying so.

Maybe I'll think about it.

Yeah, you've got a point. I guess it wouldn't be too weird, yeah?

Um... well... has anyone else asked them? If they don't have a date yet... maybe you could just... suggest going together so they won't have to go alone?

I actually have no idea. That might not be a bad idea.

I... um, I know it's kind of scary to just ask those kinds of things out of the blue, so maybe easing into it like that will be easier. Who knows... maybe they've actually been waiting for you to ask, right?

Ah... Well, I suppose that could be a possibility.

Ask if they're interested in them first? Asking directly gives a clear-cut answer.

Wouldn't that be a little too straight forward? I'm not really sure, I'm just wondering.

Ask what their plans are for Friday.

Offer to share in what you're doing.

Right, that doesn't sound like it would be awkward or anything.

A lack of confidence is what will make it awkward.

I didn't think I was lacking confidence...

Say you want to go as friends, maybe. But you should do it before somebody else does.

I hadn't really thought about that. I don't know if anyone else has asked yet.

Yeah, I sort of missed my shot last year.
