Oh my. Oh my, oh my.
I think it's safe to say that I've rediscovered my fannish-ness in a big way! :D
I've been a fan of Wolverine since the first movie. I loved that movie.I got into the comics through the first movie and for a while had a standing subscription at my local comic book shop for several X-Men titles (including Wolverine, natch) plus any other Marvel issues that Wolverine happened to pop up in.
It's been a good while since the last Wolverine movie and, to be fair, it wasn't all that it could have been. And I've been aware of the impending release of the newest installment but without really paying it much attention. Until recently. Until I bought the issue of Empire magazine with Wolverine on the cover. Until a friend of mine offered to babysit so hubby and I could actually go and see the movie at the cinema - together (an exceedingly rare occurence)! Until I watched Hugh Jackman on Top Gear. Until I came across X-Men Origins: Wolverine on TV on Friday night and sat and rewatched it. Until I started trawling the internet for clips and trailers and info about the movie.
Until I got myself so freaking psyched about this movie that I've no idea how I'm going to survive until Saturday, which is when my friend is going to babysit for us. That's 6 whole days away, man! I'll never make it! I'm already mainlining previous X-Men films and blethering all over Facebook about how excited I am to see this movie!
I mean.. for a start it's based on the awesome Claremont/Miller miniseries, set in Japan. It's got Mariko. It's got Yukio. It's got Viper. It's got Shinjo. It's got the Hand. It's got the Silver Samurai. It doesn't get much more classic Wolverine than that! Then you've got the whole tampering with the healing factor thing. And you know what that means? Whump. Yes, Wolverine whump. No wonder I'm squeeing!
So yeah, fandom. I'm back, baby! Heck the way I'm feeling right now, I may even have to do some ficcing (that's if I can clear the several crafting deadlines that I've got looming first!). ;)
