Utterly knackered this evening. Spent the entire day racing about after  the kids, cleaning and generally being desperately busy.We had a lovely picnic in the park, packed up sandwiches and some tomatoes and dried apples and stuff. Some of Orlaith's friends from preschool happened to be picnicking in the park too so we joined them We ended up spending most of the afternoon with Orlaith's friend Jacob and his Mum, Lucy, with all three of the kids (Esme included) in nothing but their pants and their knickers (nappy, in Esme's case) wandering up and down the creek by the playground. At one point Orlaith and Jacob managed to get under the little wooden bridge across the creek and leapt about pretending to be trolls. Lucy was pretending to be the billy goats gruff. Even Esme was pretending to be a troll. It was awesome!

I am totally exhausted. I was going to spend this evening sewing up a custom order of hats I've got to send out, but instead I've spent it doing all the bits and pieces I didn't get time to do today, like washing the kitchen floor and having a monster tidy up session. And now, having ground myself into the dirt, I am sitting on my arse watching the first episode of 'V' and squealing with delight (with Jake) at the appearance of Morena Baccarin AND Alan Tudyk in the same show. Whee!

I'm struggling to summon the energy to at least do some work on my socks or the cardigan I've been working on. Just so I don't feel like a great big lazy slob sitting here in front of the telly.

What else?
I got all my planting done the other week and some of my seeds have started to sprout.
I built the girls cubby houses last week, making teepees out of old bean stakes. They're only teeny weeny but they're kinds of fun. Just big enough to fit the girls' little plastic step/stools inside of so they can play house. EVerythign I needed to know to build them I learned from reading way too many Enid Blyton books as a small child.
Our next door neighbour gave me her daughters' old push along plastic car the other day, for Esme. Both she and Orlaith are more than delighted with it and spend quite a lot of time trying to climb in it together to go driving. They've also been playing with the space hoopers in the back garden and raiding my veggie patch to steal broccoli leaves to munch on.
And that's about it from me today. I am too tired to think of anything else vaguely interesting to say.
