I know it sounds unsympathetic of me to say it, but I've really enjoyed not having any planes in the sky this last week or so.
It was weird walking to preschool and b ack this morning and suddenly hearing or seeing one go over.
I've never really noticed how intrusive they are. But sitting here in the backroom with the doors open and the kids playing outside, I can't hear traffic much, but I can hear the planes. And they really are noisy. Funny how you don't notice them till they're gone.
Anyone else irritated by the complete lack of coverage of the actual volcano? Lots of news items about stranded passengers (and y'know, being stranded in a far away place for more days then you had budgeted for is not nice) but fuck all about Iceland itself or how the volcano is actually impacting on the lives of the people who live near it. Irritates me.
It's an aboslutely GLORIOUS day again today though, slightly cooler than yesterday. The kids are in teh garden pplaying happily in their sand/mud pit, covering themselves in grot. I am parked in the backroom in front of my sewing machine. Both of the French doors are wide open to let as much air and sunshine into the house as possible and it's just so beautiful.
Last night I made a big pot of pumpkin soup and we added some of our purple sprouting (claret broccoli) from the garden to it. And some beetroot greens too. It was amazingly good and we're going to have it again for lunch in a little bit. I am making an active attempt to get back to eating more healthily again. We're had lots going on round here over the last few months and it's been easy to give into the temptation to just say fuck it and order some Chinese. My waistline is beginning to tell a sorry story though so it's time to get back to forcing myself to cook, even when I am knackered. The food always tastes better and it's so much better for us. And now all my seeds are starting to sprout so it will become asier and easier to persuade myself to cook from scratch, since I am always proud to be using my own veggies.
Gah, there goes another plane.
Right, back to the sewing I go. Just wanted to share what a beautiful day it is.
