Reading Shakespeare

Apr 23, 2006 23:55

Last term I mentioned the idea of having a small group that met regularly to read Shakespeare's plays aloud - on the basis that they're really satisfying to get to know, but almost impossible to appreciate without the chance to hear the lines spoken. This is entirely an informal thing, but donals_girl, larissa_bright and I are going to make it happen - and anyone who's interested is very welcome to join us.

The time will be between 6 and 7pm every Friday evening. Just to reassure you, we won't be expecting to get through an entire play in that time. People can read as much or as little as they like.

The place, at least for the first meeting, will be larissa_bright's room, which is in Magdalene. I'm ashamed to say that I've forgotten the number - I'm sure she can post it below. Or else, if she doesn't think that's secure enough, then she could put an email address for inquiries - whichever you prefer, larissa.

Suggestions for our first play are welcome. We were thinking of a history - possibly Henry IV Part I.

p.s. Suggestions for a name for the group will also be considered...
