Dear livejournal,

I thought I might make a traditional, diary-style entry in you - for the sake of variation, if nothing else. Unlike the majority of diary-keepers from the beginning to the coming of the Coqigrues, however, I'm not going apologise to you for keeping you unfed - or should that be un-entertained? You've had a lot of words from me - I'm not going to apologise about feeding you too much, either. If anyone deserves that apology, it'll be those of my friends who are foolish enough to keep reading this - and my dear family also, of course.

Dissertation going more or less smoothly. I'm already tense and nervous about finishing it for 5pm next Wednesday, but I was relieved to find out how much of what still remains to be done is cosmetic. Changing a word here and there, correcting some wandering punctuation, straightening out the Bibliography - all simple enough. I'm going to give it a contents page and an appendix as well (it sends little shivers of anticipatory academic glee down my spine just to think of it). I wonder if a really well-polished dissertation could be described as a cry for help?

Doctor Who tonight. According to the trailer they showed last week this episode involves Scotland, Queen Victoria and a Werewolf. Intriguing.

Spring is really springing all over the place outside. Delectable scents waft in through my window on a soothing sort of breeze, the sun highlights floating petals and insects come out of hibernation. The college gardens are carpeted in blue and white flowers. Every time I read the opening of Alcuin's O Mea Cella I think of the gardens here - and feel fantastically lucky.

The whole universe frequently recommends itself to me as the greatest joke imaginable - and I'm certainly not the least laughable part of it.

With my fondest regards, dear livejournal, I remain your most obedient servant,
