Since I rarely use the darn OLD laptop PC anyway, sometimes I wonder WHY I bother running monthly Windows updates on it. Seems every month, the updates take longer and longer to download/install. Takes most of an afternoon currently to complete.

'Bout time I RETIRED the thing!

I've been an updating fool so far this week. Yesterday Skype and Trillian, Today, the monthly Windows patch.

I'm liking the new "Dark mode" in the Windows 1809 Update.

I was coming home from Brookshire's Grocery a few minutes ago, glanced up at the new large electronic advertising billboards recently installed near the Raceway gas station on Thomas Road, and saw something similar to this on the lower billboard (would have photographed it, but didn't have a camera with me)...

As you may remember, on February 9th, I posted that the older version of my preferred photo editing software, Paint Shop Pro, suddenly took a nosedive on the new desktop, and wouldn't even reinstall from the disc. I'd been using it since the old Vista machine in 2007 ( Read more... )

After installing the Windows 10 Anniversary update, figured I'd try the Edge browser again to see if it got any better. Nope. Still a slow loading, sluggish piece of shiat. Immediately went back to Firefox.

Today's Windows build 10586 didn't have the "watermark", so I took it as a "jumping off point" to exit the Insider program on the desktop, mainly due to the hassle the laptop gave me recently when it wouldn't update to the next Insider build.

Latest Windows Threshold Build, th2_release Core 10547, "borked" my audio on the desktop. Had to go to Realtek's website and download new audio drivers as a result. Also, had to re-enter my serial number for the WebcamMax program. For some reason, it vanished after the new build installed ( Read more... )

About to be on the "cutting edge". Gonna install the Windows 10 Technical Preview on the laptop. Using the laptop as the guinea pig, since I never use it for anything important. IF all goes well, only THEN, after backing my stuff, will I consider putting it on the desktop.
