Just thought to look at the mobile phone for the first time in three days. Usually forget about it unless it rings, but sometimes I DO remember to check it for texts.

As expected, no calls, no texts. Then again, what little "messaging" I do is via desktop Messenger or email, since I'm on the desktop MUCH more than the phone.

Easy to see I don't chat often online when a podcast I watch decides to switch to Discord for the "during show" chat room and when I start up the Discord program for the first time in AGES, it goes through 14 updates!

On "The Tech Guy" podcast, Leo Laporte was talking about how the Apple messaging system isn't compatible with the Android messaging system.

I've never used a phone to send/receive messages. Only use a phone for actual CALLS. If anyone needs to send me a "message", they'll have to use any program I might have on my Windows desktop.

I had to select "Other" and I specified in the comments. Never used any of those. I usually just have Facebook Messenger and Skype running. Installed Zoom back in May, after I first heard of it, but have yet to actually USE it...

Geesh! I was just sitting here watching a live podcast, and a call notification on Skype popped up suddenly. Jumped about a foot out of my chair from the sound. Closed it, since I didn't recognize the name on it. Prolly spammers.

Out of curiosity, installed ICQ for the first time in AGES and logged in. Surprisingly, several people I friended on the messenger in the early days of LiveJournal
were still in my list, but alas, no one was online.

Not that I use Skype a lot (only one person on my list), but it seems buggier with each new update. The last few updates it freezes upon starting the program, and I have to force kill the process and restart/repeat at least three times before it will run properly.

The past couple of days, I've been trying out yet another "all-in-one" IM client. I was happy with Trillian Pro up until about the middle of last year. Back in late 2006, they put up a page announcing, "Trillian Astra: Coming January 2007". Well, here it is nearly a year and a half later, and all they've managed is a private "alpha" for testing.
