I just voted by email. Harris/Walz

Kind of glad Joe Biden has put the country before his further political ambitions. Sad that his health has declined. I've always liked him. Way back in the early '80's I liked him when he was running in the Democratic primaries, but dropped out after the Neil Kinnock plagiarised speech thing.

I've long been leaning left politically... and this song reminds me of socialist ideals. Woody Guthrie has a big part in this world view, I think. Pete Seeger. Bernie Sanders. George Galloway. Billy Bragg. Clydeside. People with flat caps.

I recently went thru my journal index from 1986 through to 2000.... and I found that the majority of famous people in the index were either U.S. politicians or Music Artists.... These were my main interests in the world.

It was interesting last week to hear George Galloway won his seat as an MP down in Rochdale. He lives locally here and sometimes attends things at the primary school our granddaughters go to, as he also has kids there.

I voted by absentee ballot today, in the upcoming Republican presidential primary.

Nikki Haley was my obvious choice as she's really the only one left apart from Trump.

I don't really mention current news events as much as I used to...  My hardcopy journal is full of the news, via clippings I put in from newspapers I sometimes get.  I am very interested in the events around the world... but don't often find time to mention them much in this Livejournal.  I think maybe I'll have more time during my train holiday to ( Read more... )

I normally like to vote in US elections... as even though I'm in the UK, I'm a citizen of the US (and UK)... and I go out of my way, usually, to vote as an absentee.

This year, tho, I guess it slipped my mind that the midterms are almost upon us... I think I probably left it too late to do whatever paperwork I need to do.
