Try a Little Atomic Noize

Now... for my Song Hall of Fame, I'm adding "Try a Little Tenderness" performed by Otis Redding

"Try a Little Tenderness" was recorded in the 1930's by Bing Crosby... but this late '60's version by Otis Redding, backed by Booker T. & the M.G.'s is entirely different. Famously performed at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967.... it is actually the film of the festival by filmaker D. A. Pennebaker that I really think about when I hear the song. I had the performance in my collection of VHS tapes I made in the '90's when I went through my video phase.

Here's the performance / film...

Next, it's "Atomic" by Blondie

I never really consciously thought about it, but it's the sort of music that'd be good for a spaghetti western. With lots of melodic shouting by Debbie Harry. Debbie Harry, of course, has a place in my life as she reminds me of my wife, Linda... or visa versa.

And also... "Cum On Feel the Noize" by Slade

Growing up in the U.S., I never knew of Slade... although I would've heard this song... Apparently this 1973 ditty was their fourth number one hit in the UK... I remember the song was covered in the 1980's during the UMass years by Quiet Riot, and it was popular then.

Here it is:
