Nice late afternoon weather yesterday; decided to make use of it while it was there, due to less nice outlook over the next while. Due to late start and not wanting to shoot my bolt, just a Route One trundle. Exactly three stops; pet 'orse, attempt to photograph same (failed); blow nose and change MP3 albums at Dan Sheehan's; mini-shop at Dunnes. 37k (of course), 21.3kph, temp about 9-10C any time I noticed, and only really about 10m of faff, if we ignore the shopping part. Had vaguely intended to go see Fight Like Apes do their Jazz Weekend thing at An Brog, but a tad tired. Also, had to be up in the morning for Saturday morning cycle! For which the weather forecast was an optimistic "sunny".
A little too ambitious as it transpired, but very servicable, all the same. Having got a somewhat better night's sleep beforehand than usual, not too much success at actually getting out of bed. Had to skip shower and breakfast, and was still 5m late at the Opera House. Route was North Point to Kilard (flashback to inaugural BB run!), then off the Tower road out of Blarney to Grenagh. Refreshment stop at a surprisingly large "show farm" and cafe type place, though I didn't partake myself: mid-cycle snacking hasn't been goodf on the digestion, by and large. Back by a somewhat convoluted route nearly-but-not-quite though Carrignavar. Brief stop at Aldi on the way home -- rumours of their cycling gear being reduced proved to be unfounded (at least at that store). 64k, 18.5kph. Over a 100k in two days, which must be a first, I think. Feeling a little sniffly, very sleepy, and suspect I might not be able to move much for the rest of the week.
