Innis Gone -- wreck area

Gambled with Sunday's weather and lost.  Macroom after three (or so) changes of mind on Tuesday.  Quick tootle up Waterfall way today.

Hummed and hawed about a cycle last weekend;  weather forecast very hit-and-miss.  Bright patch on Sunday afternoon, so decided to chance it, although there was rain forecast for later on.  Pressed on from Aherla to Coolmucky -- I was even thinkig of pressing on and dropping in on my ol' muckers at Cloughduv GAA.  Ran out of weather luck before then, and turned off back to the main road, by which time it was starting to rain pretty heavy.  Overtaken by a couple of other cyclists in Rebel Tour jerseys;  toyed with using them for an aero "tow", but there was no catching back up to them.  Popped into the new Ballincollig Tesco, just for the laugh.  Rather looks like the usual weight sum of Tescos everywhere.  Then Aldi;  seems that one has started reducing the various bits of cycle gear, whereas the Ballyphehane one hasn't.  Curious.  Lashing down.  At this point admitted defeat and put on my "emergency poncho" (glorified clear yellow binbag with armholes).  I think putting my highviz on over the top helped 'secure' it somewhat, but I suspect it all looked quite the sight.  Further scared the horses by going into Dunnes, too.  Relatively little 'idling' apart from all that shopping, though.  45k, 20.4kph.

Laterly very sunny on Tuesday;  out the reservoir, via BRR and MFR.  No "peninsula" in the rec area!  Must have been raining or something -- no, wait...  Just when I was starting to wonder if it was a permanent feature.  Pre-sunset didn't look quite as red and dramatic as it does in the piccies to the naked eye (though I suppose said eye does tend to fool itself).

Decided to press on as far as Carrigadrohid, for the sake of variety from Coachford.  Then on getting there, that I didn't much fancy the hilly road back from there, so I'd just press on to the Macroom road junction.  Got a "pacer" that was a bit more my speed on this stretch.  Right at the road junction, my bike computer seemingly died -- likely just a dead battery in the sensor.  Back the N22...  and once again lapped by some speedier types, this time a trio.  I can say with some precision though that total elapsed time was 4h30, though...  if we don't count a ten-minute nip into Dunnes for milk and so on.  Necessarily nippy, as I'd forgotten to bring a bike lock.  To that point, though, 38k at 19.3kph.

Today, late-breaking trip up to Waterfall, Sacrom Cross, down to Grange Cross, then main road from Greenfields.  'Puter says 22k at 17.5kph.  Curiously, max speed reads 49.7mph;  can't help but wonder if that's legit (from plumetting down from Sacrom while being moderately able to see where I was going, for a change?), a deranged squawk from the dying sensor, or some other sort of wireless interference.
