chicken, 60, and the best Christmas card ever

Dec 17, 2009 21:57

1. The roasted chicken was fantastic. I rubbed it with salt and pepper and thyme, then piled potatoes and onion and carrots and celery around it. I baked it at 375 for 20 minutes, then 400 for another 35 or so. I took it out to test the temp and wasn't sure it was done, so I put some dollops of butter on the chicken and veggies and put it back in the oven for 5 minutes (it was only 10 degrees away from what the temp guide told me for poultry), then it rested for 30-45 minutes until Nathan got home. It was juicy and tender and simply fantastic. After we ate our fill, I pulled the meat off and put it aside for future enchiladas and soups, then boiled the bones and leftover veggies for stock.

2. Mitchell (my older brother) and Shannon (his fiancee) sent me a Christmas card. I opened it and it read, "Sorry, they were all out of pirate cards. Hope you like snowmen." I looked at the front and realized that one of them drew an eyepatch on the snowman. And then I looked more and saw a hook for a hand! I was totally thrilled. ^^ Whichever of them did it is now on my favorite person list.

This one was okay. Big fairy war, Sookie's in the middle and has to survive. Plus, sex with Eric again. Worth reading just for the images that provides.
