“Remind me again why I said yes to your mother, and let her help me with a gift?” Harry asked Malfoy as he nursed a pint. He had invited Malfoy for a drink, after they waved Narcissa goodbye. He never thought that his invitation would be accepted, but it had.

“Because you have lousy taste and want to buy something nice for your sort-of-but-not-quite mother,” Draco replied undeterred, taking a sip of his wine.

“It was bloody exhausting! I never saw so many shops in my lifetime, let alone in a day!”

“Nonsense. Besides she picked out something nice, didn’t she? You should be thanking her!”

“Yeah,” Harry mumbled. It was a nice present. Narcissa had showed him a painting of a Santa Claus which had been painted by Dean Thomas. Dean had opened his own gallery and painted mostly Muggle art. When Harry saw the Santa Claus, he instantly knew that Molly would love it.

“She will be trilled. It’s also a much better gift than the painting I have received from my secret admirer. The noise that it produces, I’ve got it on a permanent silencing charm.”

“Really, how so?”

Malfoy gave him a look that clearly stated how much of an idiot he found Harry right now. “It’s a painting of a skating rink, and it seems the closer it is to Christmas the more noise it makes. It’s a miracle at all if I can get any work done!”

Harry hummed affirmatively. He knew from experience that when Malfoy ranted it was best to let it happen. Much easier that way, and a lot less pain at the no doubt sharp words and hex that would be flung in his direction should he dare to interrupt.

“Any idea who this secret admirer is? It better not be you, Potter!”

“Nope, sorry. It’s not me, and I do not know who it is,” Harry quickly took a sip of his pint, and looked the other way so that Malfoy couldn’t see his face.
