WHEN IT RAINS...

Earlier this morning my Dad called me to tell me that my Grandmother was in the hospital. For an 86-year old woman in the middle stages of Alzheimers, this didn't terribly surprise me. What did upset me was HOW she ended up in the hospital. She apparently had TWO strokes AND a heart attack, then fell and hit her head, which resulted in a concussion. I mean, how does all that happen to one person at one time?!?!?!

My mom is with her at the hospital in Wytheville right now. When I spoke to her a little while ago, she said my grandmother is doing okay for the most part, though she's having some trouble with her eyesight and her Alzheimers has left her confused. Mom was upset because as of 2 PM today, she had yet to see a doctor come around.

Mom's also going back to Farmville tonight, which tells me that despite how serious it all sounds, Granny is expected to pull through okay. Nobody has mentioned the word "funeral" yet, at any rate. Granny is a tough old bird too. There's a reason why I always referred to her as the "Battleaxe." She's too mean to go down that easily...
