Fandom and real life COLLIDE in glorious ways

A few weeks ago, Lea, Jen, Rachel and I journeyed to Little Tokyo to see Madhuri's play A Nice Indian Boy. Due to traffic constraints, I enjoyed dinner alone at a newly discovered udon-exlcusive restaurant.

I love udon.

It is my favorite noodle soup.

If I could have it every week, I would be happy.

Before the show started, I found Lea, Jen and Rachel at a Starbucks down the street. I hadn't seen them in a while (don't think I'd met Rachel before, actually). We discussed fantasy and sex in popular fantasy novels. (Jen, I finished Outlander!!)

The play was so wonderful! I sat next to Lea in the orchestra. Jen and Rachel had nice seats in front row balcony.

The play is about an Indian man who's gay. He still wants a traditional Indian wedding. He meets a man who basically feels the same way... except he is white. He was raised by Indian adoptive parents though, so he is almost more Indian than his Indian boyfriend. I laughed; I cried; I was moved. The play had DDLJ references, which I totally understood. DDLJ is the only Bollywood film I've seen all the way. If you've never seen Bollywood films before, this is the one to experience first.

Madhuri is SO GOOD!! I'm kicking myself for not seeing her work before, when she was at USC.
