First rehearsal!

I read a lot today... :) We worked the ballet in the morning and into the afternoon. I didn't do much then. When the kids arrived, oh my goodness! I got much busier lol. They were 15 or so kids in attraction but they were older and not in as much. However, and I may be judging this prematurely, they were great today. "March of the Siamese Children" is an adorable number.

I completely brainfarted this morning. I forgot to sweep and mop! *facepalm* The floor is kindof gross too. Sucks for the performers, as they work barefoot.

Jeff and I watched Gandhi tonight. All three hours and ten minutes of it! I saw about two thirds of it in high school. It was a long, long movie! It covers a ton of history, and spans many countries. I had forgotten that Gandhi lived in South Africa. Ben Kingsley did a fine job portraying the man. I'm currently reading Holy Cow by Sarah MacDonald. It is a non-fiction travel story by an Australian women who lived in India for a couple years. She doesn't talk much about Gandhi, but she gets around and experiences a lot of Indian, including its religions. It's interesting to be taking in her perspectives on white people who embrace Indian religions. There's a white woman in Gandhi, from Britain. In the movie, Gandhi sends away one of his close friends because he is white. He believes that the cause must be won by Indian people alone. But then he takes on this woman from Britain. He still keeps white company after that too... it reminds me of what Nelson Mandela talked about a lot in A Long Walk to Freedom, the struggle within the ANC over the issue of including Indians in their fight for equality.
