Jaejoong is determined not to make the same mistake twice. Not with the same man, at least. Though fate thinks otherwise and when Yunho makes a spectacular reappearance in his life, Jaejoong learns that his ex-boyfriend not only did leave his heart broken but also his self-esteem was torn to pieces. Time to take revenge.

Prologue

The guy seemed to be pretty interested in him but he couldn't bring himself to care. Jaejoong admitted to himself, a bit reluctantly though, that he didn't even remember the guy's name.

A hand sneaked on his thigh and started stroking it in circles, hot breath were grazing his ear as awkward fingers wrapped around his nape, caressing it lightly. Jaejoong wondered what the guy wanted. He was probably waiting for him to launch himself at him and beg for him take him then and there or something, but all Jaejoong could muster was a very long and exasperated sigh as he pressed his back into his seat, flinching away from every touch.

It was always the same. Random guys with random names and meaningless conversations which led only to one and always the same direction. Bullshit.

Jaejoong pushed the guy's hands away from his chest and bit back a remark as he asked for the bill and tossed money on the table.

The guy seemed surprised, his mood immediately turned from bad to worse, his expression annoyed. “What the hell is wrong with you?”

Jaejoong didn't bother to answer. What could he say anyway? That he was not interested in anyone? That there was no one he could trust anymore? That you are much more careful when your heart had been already broken? And that it was broken so badly that you didn't feel alive anymore?

It's been two years since Jaejoong last saw Yunho. It wasn't a friendly conversation, ending with Jaejoong throwing glasses and plates against the wall and Yunho screaming obscenities on his way out of the apartment. The door slammed shut, leaving Jaejoong alone with the deafening silence and Yunho's scent lingering around him in the empty room.

Yunho left and never returned.

They had been fighting for a while, about ridiculous things all over and over again, leaving both of them worn out, angry and hurt. But what Yunho said to him that night was surprising, unexpected and painful. Unforgivable.

No matter how much they would fight before, how angry their words were, how loud they yelled, there was one thing that was always there, between them, not letting their worlds fall apart. Not letting ruin what he had built up. Trust. That was the last thing Yunho took away from Jaejoong that fateful night. And that was what he threw away like it was nothing.

Yunho had always been possessive and jealous and often complained when he caught others staring at Jaejoong. More often than not he threw a tantrum about it then the next day they didn't even remember.

But that night Yunho accused him of cheating and that was the beginning of the end for them. Jaejoong had no idea where the idea came from but at that point, he didn't care. He told Yunho that he hadn't cheated and Yunho called him a liar. And they were over.

It wasn't about cheating anymore and Jaejoong eventually got tired of defending himself for something he hadn't done. Yunho didn't trust him anymore and that was worse than anything they had to face before. It was final and far beyond repair. They couldn't be fixed.

Back then, Jaejoong was sure he wouldn't be able to live without Yunho. His other half. His one and only love. He had left his shattered heart lying on the glass-covered floor of their apartment and moved on.

His body did, at least. Since then, there was never a moment when he didn't feel that emptiness inside, never a smile which came from his heart, never an honest laughter. Everything became dark and meaningless around him. Nothing made sense anymore and Jaejoong was nothing more than a living corpse with a broken heart and bittersweet memories.

Jaejoong lowered his camera and took a look at the last picture. It was breathtaking, the setting sun painting the sky every hue of red and orange, the dark shapes of the flying birds completing the beautiful scenery.

Perfect.

Putting the camera into his bag, Jaejoong started walking towards the huge building at the end of the street. After checking his mailbox, he jogged upstairs and fished his keys out of his pocket.

“You can't do this! You have no right! At least give me one week. This is against the rules, do you hear me?”

Jaejoong stopped and listened, then hurriedly took the last flight of stairs, arriving at the third floor where his apartment was located.

“Mirai?” Jaejoong called the Japanese girl, his neighbor, who was standing in front of her door, buried under boxes and bags, everything lying around her in a mess.

The girl spun around at hearing her name and sighed, dropping the huge box she was holding. “Jaejoong, help me.”

Jaejoong raised an eyebrow and stepped closer, looking around in shock. “What happened?”

The girl shook her head and looked at him with tears in her eyes. “The new owner. He bought all the apartments on the second and third floor.”

“New owner?” Jaejoong began to wonder how it was possible that he had missed such an important information when he was pushed aside by a man who was carrying another pile of boxes and threw it on the floor carelessly. “What are they doing?”

The girl ran her fingers through her hair. “The new owner has chosen my apartment to move in, apparently. He just knocked on the door and told me to pack my things and leave. He said he had the permission. What should I do now, Jaejoong?”

“Bastard,” Jaejoong gritted his teeth. “Where is he? Let me talk to him.”

“He ran away to take his belongings and left these two gorillas here to do the dirty work.”

Jaejoong sighed. “I'm sorry, Mirai. Right now I don't think we can do anything. You can stay at my place for now then we'll think of something.”

“Thank you, Jaejoong,” Mirai smiled weakly. “I already called my parents, they will be here in a minute. I'm going back to their place and stay there for a while.”

“Okay, let me help you at least,” Jaejoong offered and the girl nodded gratefully.

By the time they finished and Mirai left with her parents, Jaejoong was more tired and angrier than before. How could anyone do something like that? Put someone on the street in the blink of an eye just because he had the power? That asshole must be a heartless bastard.

Stomping furiously upstairs, Jaejoong jumped aside as a bed nearly fell on his head as the same two men passed him.

“Hey, watch where you're going,” he shouted after them and jumped for the second time when more pieces of furniture appeared on the stairs, obviously belonging to the new owner. “He sure doesn't waste his time,” Jaejoong grumbled, arriving at the half-empty apartment, peeking inside.

He shook his head, half-amused, half-furious when a voice interrupted his thoughts from behind his back.

An awfully familiar voice.

“You're my new neighbor?”

Jaejoong could feel his blood running cold as the voice came closer. He held his breath and slowly turned around, his heart thumping fast in his chest.

The younger man gasped as he caught a glimpse of the other's face. “Jaejoong.”

Jaejoong's head was spinning as his eyes struggled to take in the sight of the man who broke his heart and ruined his life two years ago. “Yunho.”

The expression slowly changed on the younger man's face and his lips curled into a smirk. “What a pleasant surprise.”
