Apparently holding or comforting a thunder-phobic dog doesn't really help reduce their stress during a storm, but having another dog there (I'm guessing, one who isn't *also* thunder-phobic) does help a bit, at least, and help them calm down more quickly after ( Read more... )

The ground is frozen hard and lumpy, crunching with a thin crust of dry grass like a worn out blanket. Overhead the sky is clear and far away, and the stars burn tiny holes in the black. There is no moon, but dogs orbit me like twin planets, or comets trailing plumes of steam in icy air.

I just stumbled across this picture (taken by ursuscelticus, from way back in October when we hiked up the Buffalo mountian. I just love how happy he looks, even though I had to talk him into getting up in the tree (about 1 ft off the ground).

This is another one of those necropsy wtfs that I just have to share; it was awhile ago, but now I have the pictures. Only don't look if you're fond of crazins and have a weak stomach.
