Mummy puppies and dogs decoded

This made me think of primaldog

Egyptian catacombs hold millions of mummified puppies

There's not a ton of information in the article. The catacombs were apparently sacred to Anubis (no big suprise), and many of the mummies were hours to days old. Some speculation, but I don't think they really know what their significance is (the thought of breeding puppies to mummify them is pretty upsetting to my modern sensibilities, though probably not honestly worse than some modern puppy mills).

In other news, we watched NOVAs Dogs decoded, which is a completely awesome documentary about the domestication of canids, and contains footage of the ongoing russian fox study. Curly tailed spotted foxes FTW :) I highly recommend it.

Slow day at work, at the moment, obvioulsy.
