Ups and downs...

Yesterday started of as a great day and turned to utter crap. Class was decent, practice went well, especially since I didn't have to kick Huy off the team. He didn't show up for the tournament this weekend - his second offense. I had told him if he pulled that crap again, he may get kicked off the team. Instead he had to complete 100 push ups, 100 situps, 100 jump squats AFTER practice if he wanted to stay. He did em all, counted out by my captain.

He's a good kid, really, but he has no parents. He only sees them on Saturday evenings usually, and has raised himself since he was about 12. He seems to soak up discipline pretty well, considering how much of it he's lacked.

My workout went well. I hit a major PR for front squats - upped my max by 20 pounds, and could have added more. My knee felt perfect during the movement, which makes me happy. It still hurts during step-up movements though. So my workout log is as follows:
Front squats - 10 sets x 3 reps x 135lbs

Flat Bench press - 10 sets x 3 reps (I had to slowly lower the weight through the workout - my hips were cramping from the squats). Started off with 132 pounds and ended up with 122 lbs.

Elevated pushups - 1 set of 10, 2 sets of 8.

Workout related TMI: My nipples, which used to point straight down to my toes, now point straight and out at a 45 degree angle. My body composition has changed quite a lot!

Finally, and what made it such a crappy evening, was that one of my wrestler's stepdad threatened to "beat him so hard so that he would have flashbacks to when his FATHER beat him." I had to call the police to take the kid home. After giving my statement, the best the police officer could say was that since he was a minor, the kid had to go home, no matter the threat, and no matter the fact that the kid told the cop his mom and stepdad were alcohol and drug abusers. Why do the laws protect the criminal and not the victim? Somehow the whole thing irritated me even more since it was a female cop. Maybe it's sexist, but I expected more sympathy from her.

Anyway, I didn't get home until 9pm, missed a show I actually wanted to watch, and had to eat Quiznos instead of home cooking. It is teh suck.
