*so sore*
Monday I started doing light running with the team. When they run, I jog, when they sprint, I half-sprint. So for the last two days we've been running bleachers, doing hundred yard sprints, suicides on the football field, and medicine ball sprints. I haven't jogged or biked since my knee began hurting back in October, and my cardiovascular system is out of shape big-time.
The football coaches make fun of me behind my back because I *gasp* WORK OUT WITH THE KIDS! But I never ask them to do anything I won't do. Unlike the freaking football coaches who sit in their cars and drive around the school when they make the football team run.
The kids love it though. When other students comment ask my team "Who is that guy working out with you," they are pretty proud to point out I am their coach. The others can't believe that I actually run and lift weights with them. "Gosh, OUR coaches NEVER do anything." This is stating the obvious, and part of the reason our football team was 0-10 this season.
Even my unpaid assistant and parent volunteer run and work out with us. It seems to be an infectious work ethic and I'm glad I started it.
On top of the running yesterday, I got three exercises in the gym:
good morning, 10 sets of 3, 95 lbs
military presses, 10 sets of 3, 70 lbs (new PR)
bicep curls, 5 sets of 10,45 lbs
like I said....owie!
