The trees are about 50 turned right now. It's strange how one tree can be totally green still while it neighbour (same kind of tree) has completely turned. The yellow surrounded by green is quick shocking. Last night it was quite breezy as it is today and the yard is now carpeted in bright yellow aspen leaves. It's quite pretty, especially where the grass is still nice and green.
The house is cool today as I had the windows all over the house open last night to cool it off from the 32 C heat yesterday.
Today our Redwater house will belong to someone else. I grateful that the house sold fairly quickly and that we no longer have the responsibility of looking after two houses. The acreage is more than enough. The last time Hubby and I walked through the Redwater house I shed a couple of tears. It's a lovely home and we put a lot of work into it to make it "ours". We thought it was going to be our last home, our retirement home. Sadly the neighbourhood changed during the years since we bought and I didn't feel safe anymore after waking up one morning to some guy passed out on our front step.
Kinda the death of a dream. But, we have a new dream. Our acreage. It hasn't been without it's problems but I really like it out in the country. I never tire of the view from our living room window and the house filled with light. We have plans to change the decks, develop the yard area and finish painting inside. I've always been the sort of person who once I start something, I have to finish it as soon as possible. (not with crafts or hobbies sadly) I've learned to let go a bit. Between Hubbies hernia operation, injuring my knee, waiting for surgery, then surgery and a long recovery period many of our plans are still just plans. Hopefully I'll be able to finish painting the house by next spring and then see our planned vegetable garden become a reality.
For now, I'm off to go through my closets and start making a pile to donate to charity. I'm sure there are lots of things that haven't seen the light of day in over a year.
