Once upon a time I'd bought 2 tiny packages of Coridale fiber in a bright orange in order to test out my new found spinning wheel. The first one came out all think-thin and over twisted. And adorable first try.
Last week I spun its twin just to see how much I'd improved.
Here is the single. Looking pretty good. Still some thick-thin sections with over twisting but hey, its only been 8 months of infrequent practice. I'm feeling pretty good =)
I thought I'd ply it with the light un-dyed Coridale I'd been practicing with until I read about Navajo or chain plying. This technique gives you a 3-ply yarn from a single. Considering my habit of spinning without measuring this sounds like a good thing. It was a bit tricky to start but seems to have worked ok and only a little over-spun.
Just for fun I sat the two together, TA-DA!
One the left is the first single I spun so many months ago. One the right, its chain plied sibling. I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself right now.
